Was bringen Mikrokredite?
The German Internet scene is circling around itself for years and the “republica” conference is its annual climax.
Do these people have nothing to talk about besides their holy Internet? Their beloved one and only? Their existence?
Speaking of existence, that non-stopping meta-talk seems to have something to do with the fact that these people earn their money on and with the Internet (or at least try to do so), which means that they are in fact lobbyists who try to promote their product and make it more important to others.
Why else should they talk about people who aren’t yet using the Internet instead of using it themselves and then be quiet?
The only possible explanation I can think of is that they want to expand their audience, like companies who want to sell something.
Look at international blogs. There are so many blogs with different topics and there are “niches” who are in fact very big, while in the German part of the Internet there is absolute drought.
There are so few blogs about other topics than “social media”, which in fact they are so I don’t understand why they talk about it so much.
That seems to be also the reason why those people are angry about people who recommend them to “get a life”, because they have none besides their newest gadget or social network.
Their whole life circles around the newest Apple product and the next social network where they add the same old people they don’t even know again and again.
This boredom is sickening.
A hype cycle is a graphic representation of the maturity, adoption and social application of specific technologies.
[…] Mobile technology reveals a great psychological truth: if we don’t teach our children to be alone, they will only know how to be lonely. Having gotten into the habit of constant connection, we have lost our capacity for the kind of solitude that energizes and restores. […]
Tonight I had a dream about my father.
He was the one I know from my real life, or let’s call it my past life, because if he isn’t seriously willing to change, I’ll do everything to avoid him for the rest of my life.
At first he was the cold, fast-going and pressure-making one who let’s me search for invisible shelter once he’s around.
But in the dream I had the opportunity to form him like warm wax.
I gave him a candid look and warm eyes, a sense of humour and no, I didn’t gave him strength per se. His strength was obvious but it came to sight only as he got his new, soft character.
Now you could talk to him about everything but he had borders nonetheless. He wouldn’t punch you (not even with words) because now he knew how he could make his way in a friendly manner.
He was smiling and actually listened to what I said and I felt respected. I must not hide myself anymore. We stood together in the bathroom. (Can’t remember a time when this happend in real life.)
That dude was a nice guy, treating the people around him well.
Then it came to me: Wasn’t this my own dad? I mean, this dude has still to be inside my dad, even though buried under his cold, repellant surface, who isn’t even able to cope with a little argument and therefore doesn’t call for over six months now. (Not that he wouldn’t have done that before, because, you know, that little arguments just don’t go away.)
Or is it just that—a dream, and this guy is only the guy I am looking for? However. Now I know at least a bit how it must feel to have a dad.
